Abstract
A large number of porcelain type substation
apparatuses were damaged when the Off-Miyagi Earthquake
attacked the nor t hern part of Japan on 12
June, 1978 . Careful studies of some of this damaged
equipment clearly s howed the influence of the
tension between two neighboring apparatuses through
their connecting leads . The influence of the leads
has been studied theoretically and also experimentarily
by t he shaking table tests on full size
equipment . The results of the study and a proposal
for the design of lead connections a r e p r esen ted in
the paper .
