Improved group functionality added: now it is possible to get an aggregated view on the group members content via /group/* pages. Additionally, the tag filter is now case insensitive and you can jump to the page for the first filtered tag by just pressing return; broken bibtex URLs are now repaired on the fly and not in the database.
Today we added some more functionality for groups. On the group page you can now see all users which are in the group. This behaviour can be controlled by the group admin on the settings page. Furthermore the group admin can now remove users from a group -- all posts of the removed user which were viewable for the group members become automatically "private". So nothings gets lost. We also enhanced prev/next navigation and added a counter to the search page.
Today we migrated BibSonomy to a new server to increase hardware redundancy. Furthermore we incorporated the following updates:
* Changing the tags of a post with one of the tag edit functions (e.g., basket or edit tags) does not change the date of the post any longer. Hence, changing tags of posts does not cause them to arise in the post list.
* If you have forgotten your password you have now the option to recover it by filling out a reminder form.
* Resource pages (e.g., like this one) now have a tag cloud, too.
On 12th April 2007 it is BibSonomy's birthday :-) Two years of design, development and the contribution of its users have enhanced the system constantly. In order to show BibSonomy's features and support users starting to work with the system, we have changed our help-websites.
Sometimes I want to have some means of structuring my tag cloud. For example, I tag a lot of researchers' home pages with their last names as tag. So I want to have all these last names together in one spot.
OpenURL aims to solve this 'appropriate copy' problem by providing a link to a copy of a work the user has a valid subscription to or to an open access version. BibSonomy allows to redirect requests to an OpenURL resolver chosen from the user. You can include the address of your resolver in the OpenURL field at your "settings" page.
For the German LWA conference our institute is hosting in October we are using BibSonomy as central tool to manage the accepted papers. We also offer interesting services to the conference participants which are partially based on BibSonomy.
Therefore, we released some intermediate features today in a smaller release (the next regular release is scheduled for September 22th):
* Publications having a crossref field are now linked to the BibTeX key that is referenced. E.g., this post references the post with the key eisterlehner2009ecmlpkdd.
* On BibSonomy's web pages the authors of a post are now separated by "," (instead of "and"). Only the last author is separated by "and".
* All textareas now have a bar at the bottom with that you can resize them.
* You can now enter an "institution" for your profile which also appears on the CV page.
* Two new links in your myBibSonomy menu: myPrivatePosts and myCV.
* And last but not least: you can now upload a photo for your CV.
Longer explanations of those new features will follow in the next weeks, for now I will quickly explain how to upload a photo for your CV.
Just go to the settings page and there to the section a picture for my cv. With the file choose dialog select a photo from your local file system which shall represent you in BibSonomy. Then press the upload button. The photo is then visible on your CV page - for you only, for your friends or for everybody - depending on the setting of profile viewable for on the settings page. Here you can see as an example Andreas' CV:
In the last post we introduced a new parameter for our REST API. With the last release another new API feature was introduced which allows for a better usage of BibSonomy in browser based applications. The API is now able to output JSON. Instead of XML, all API request can be switched with the URL parameter format to return JSON.
# On your user settings page you can configure for most resource lists (e.g., in search results) which resource types (bookmarks and/or publications) should be displayed.
# Also on your user settings page you can hide certain advanced features, which are relevant only to BibSonomy's power users.
# Your exported BibTeX-snippets now contain a field which indicates the date you posted the corresponding entry to BibSonomy.
# Most tag related pages (e.g., user-tag pages) contain on the sidebar's beginning references to corresponding tag or concept pages which now also contain counts for the correspondingly matching posts.
Today we updated BibSonomy to version 2.0.12. As always, the new libraries are at your disposal at our Maven repository. Next to various small bugfixes and internal restructuring the following features were included / updated:
* File Upload: It is now possible to upload and attach several documents to one BibTeX-Post. Furthermore, the upload is enabled already in the posting dialogue as well as in the editing and detail views.
* API: API-Requests for Tags now allow a new parameter, that specifies the order in that the tags are delivered. Currently, we support alphabetic order and order by frequency.
* Date: We changed the behaviour of the dates of our posts. From now on, the date is set fix once the post is created and does no longer change with each update/editing of that post.
The next release (2.0.13) is scheduled for March 30th. If you have any feedback or comments regarding our new release, we would be happy to hear from you!
