It is a 2D crystalline form of carbon, one atom thick. It has garnered immense interest in the field of material sciences due to its unique set of physical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. This has set it up as a major alternative to many of the conventional materials in a wide variety of fields. This paper discusses some of the uses and applications of graphene, along with techniques employed for its synthesis and some of the most promising prospects of this wonder material.
