This paper presents a metamodel for developing a QTI-based assessment system using the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) standard. The main reason for applying the MDA standard in development of assessment systems is to make a clear difference between conceptual and concrete modeling in order to automate transfer and sharing of information and knowledge. The first prerequisite for this is a QTI metamodel.
