European KM Forum IST Project No 2000-26393, (2002)

Abstract

This document contains deliverable D2.1. Part B of the IST project European KM Forum – European Knowledge Management Forum. The objective of the Network is to establish a well coordinated and effective support infrastructure throughout Europe in order to share and exchange the latest developments in the Knowledge Management domain. The aim of this document is to provide a framework by which various KM technologies can be understood. The framework initially presents a generic KM technology architecture consistent with many widely read textbook descriptions. This provides a generic view of how KM technologies fit together to produce a KM application. Core KM processes are then introduced. KM technologies are then described as enablers of these processes. A select number of mainstream and research technologies are then presented as examples of KM process enablers. At this current stage the aim is not to provide an exhaustive list, though it is intended that further technologies will be added as the document evolves. The task is carried out by KMI, IAT, BOC and Cézanne and is supported by all nodes of the European KM Forum who contribute by providing information about KM projects. This document is Part B of the whole deliverable D2.1 and includes the KM technologies. After the first round of gathering information, 12 KM technologies can be represented. A short description and analysis of each model is given.
