- (private-note)P. sericea has a photosynthetic capacity 2x that of temperate treeline species. At 13?C. Breadth of response curve is narrow. Falls off steeply, ablove and below the maximum. Temperature optimum for photosynthesis increases with decreasing altitude, as does the upper temperature compensation point. (Acclimation) but the breadth of the curve remains small. Dark respiration higher in P. sericea. Podocarpus oleifolius and rospiglosii had d r rates similar to those in temperate species High respiration to permit freezing damage repair? Not much point in possessing acclimation potential. ?The small difference between maximum and upper compensation point for photosynthetic response suggests that P. sericea may indeed posess little flexibility in this regard.? *BULL BULL THAT?S ALL BULL * The podocarpuses show almost no short-term temperature acclimation.
