Knowledge has become a major input for modern enterprises and KM was
developed as the
conceptual framework to enhance employee knowledge and creativity.
Meanwhile, discussions of KM have been dominated
by skepticism or uncritical prescription. This article presents a
brief description of the controversy about Knowledge
Management (KM) and a survey about the KM practices in a panel of
companies in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil,
classified in Division 72 of International Standard Industrial Classification
(ISIC-REV3). The aim of the survey was to
understand how a modern and highly technological sector of the economy
deals with KM
