The dynamic stresses of the foundations of an overhead powerline originate from wind-induced transversal
fluctuating forces on .conductors, and from transient longitudinal forces due to abrupt inbalances between two adjacent
spans.
As a rule, such forces, applied to the top of the towers, are transmitted to the foundations modified by the
dynamic characteristics of the towers and of the foundations themselves.
Theoretical and experimental considerations have allowed to determine the force variation law in both cases,
and, therefore, thanks to the use of a device capable of applying variable loads according to any law, to verify the
behaviour of real foundations.
The results obtained are commented here laying stress on the characteristic aspects of the dynamic behaviour
of foundations, with a view to providing valuable guidelines to the designer.
