We have studied Mn L-2,L-3-edges and O K-edge of LixMn2O4 (x = 0,
0.5,1.0,1.5,1.8 and 2) thin films prepared at different concentrations
of LiCl in solution (x) and obtained by a method of low cost. These
studies were used to understanding change in the structures of these
compounds when LiCl is added in the precursor solution. Small change in
the Mn L-2,L-3-edges X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES)
spectra have been verified in which are related to variations in average
oxidation state of the Mn. The XANES and XRD results confirm that for x = 2.0 is formed the pure spinel. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights
