Abstract
A network model is proposed to describe the intraparticle porous
structure of an SEC (size exclusion chromatography) column and solved
using orthogonal collocation. Comparison of the retention and band
broadening features with the conventional model of a parallel bundle of
capillaries shows significant differences, which demonstrate the
importance of including morphological characteristics into the model to
account for the mass transfer restrictions.
