The general variation of the electric field under transmission lines and in substations is analysed. The influence of various factors on the electric field was calculated and discussed. In order to limit the field strength near ground surface to 9 kv/m or less, the conductor height has been increased appropriately. Finally, calculations were also made to reduce local field strength by means of shielding.
