Localised energy systems which have been prevalent in the UK and Europe remain the most viable solution to tackle the pressing challenges of lack of reliable, environmentally friendly and sustainable electricity supply in Nigeria. However, the implementation of localised energy system might face some challenges and barriers that could hamper the development. In this paper, these challenges were analysed and possible solutions were suggested, in order to facilitate the growth of localised energy systems in Nigeria. Aside solving electricity related problems integration of localised energy systems will also help to provide jobs for the youth and create new investment opportunities for the people.
