General technical report RM-Rocky Mountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, US Department of Agriculture, Forest Service (USA), (1988)

Abstract

An apparent high rate of mortality for desert tortoises at the Piute Valley in southern Nevada between 1979 and 1983 significantly decreased mean carapace length and average age of the population by 1983, but not density. By 1987, average size and age of the population had increased and density remained stable.
