The Visualization Toolkit (VTK) is an open-source, freely available software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing and visualization. VTK consists of a C++ class library and several interpreted interface layers including Tcl/Tk, Java, and Python.
An extendible and configurable PDF manipulation layer. It is a ready to use java library to perform PDF document manipulation without having to deal with the low level API.
Ganymed SSH-2: Java based SSH-2 Protocol Implementation
The Ganymed SSH-2 library allows one to connect to SSH servers from within Java programs. It supports SSH sessions (remote command execution and shell access), local and remote port forwarding, local stream forwarding, X11 forwarding, SCP and SFTP. There are no dependencies on any JCE provider, as all crypto functionality is included.
Ganymed SSH-2 for Java is the de-facto standard for open source based SSH communication in Java software. The library is used in many industrial products but also in open source software, e.g., in the widely used SVN plugin for Eclipse and in Cyberduck (a popular SFTP client for the Mac).
Originally, Ganymed SSH-2 for Java was developed by Dr. Christian Plattner for the Ganymed replication project at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, back in 2005. In the meantime, its clearly structured code has been ported by different people to other languages as well. Confusingly, there are also Java branches with slightly different names. However, Ganymed SSH-2 for Java is the original implementation with a stable interface that is backwards compatible to the first implementation written in 2005 (!).
ZXing (pronounced "zebra crossing") is an open-source, multi-format 1D/2D barcode image processing library implemented in Java, with ports to other languages. Our focus is on using the built-in camera on mobile phones to scan and decode barcodes on the device, without communicating with a server. However the project can be used to encode and decode barcodes on desktops and servers as well. We currently support these formats:

a library of routines for managing a database. The database is a simple data file containing records, each is a pair of a key and a value. Every key and value is serial bytes with variable length.
an Open Source Probabilistic Information Retrieval library, a highly adaptable toolkit to allow developers to easily add advanced indexing and search facilities to their own applications.
a modern alternative to object middleware such as CORBA™ or COM/DCOM/COM+. Ice is easy to learn, yet provides a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications.
a way of representing structural information as diagrams of abstract graphs and networks. Automatic graph drawing has many important applications in software engineering, database and web design, networking, and in visual interfaces for many other domains
implements a very innovative system for sub-graphing and allows for stunning visuals. GINY is open source, provides a number of layout algorithms, and is designed to be a very intuitive API.
open source high performance realtime 3D engine written and usable in C++ and also available for .NET languages. It is completely cross-platform, using D3D, OpenGL and its own software renderer.
an interface for array-oriented data access and a library that provides an implementation of the interface. The netCDF library also defines a machine-independent format for representing scientific data.
a robust, somewhat scalable, cross-platform client-server messaging system for dynamic distributed applications that runs under any POSIX-compliant operating system.
a Java-like library that acts as a bridge between the C++ and the Java worlds. It offers a wide range of the Java facilities without losing the power of C++.
a collection of machine learning algorithms for data mining tasks. The algorithms can either be applied directly to a dataset or called from your own Java code.
allows you to call directly into native functions using natural Java method invocation. The Java call looks just like it does in native code. Most calls require no special handling or configuration; no boilerplate or generated code is required.
JADE (Java Agent DEvelopment Framework) is a software Framework fully implemented in Java language. It simplifies the implementation of multi-agent systems through a middle-ware that complies with the FIPA specifications and through a set of graphical tools that supports the debugging and deployment phases
jpatchwatch is a Java library for monitoring directories for changes. It uses the host platform’s native OS functions to achieve this to avoid polling.
The following events on a directory can be monitored:
File creation and deletion
File modification
File renaming*
Changes in subdirectories* (recursive monitoring)
Invalidation (a watched directory becomes unavailable)
(*) selected platforms only, see Features.
Currently the following platforms are supported natively:
Windows (Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 32bit/64bit)
Linux (x86, 32bit/64bit)
Mac OS X
(x86, 32bit/64bit, tested on 10.5)
(PPC, tested on 10.4)
FreeBSD (x86, 32bit)
Minimum required Java Platform:
Java 5
Because jpathwatch’s native libraries are packaged within its JAR file, there is no setup required that’s common to most Java libraries leveraging native code. It works just like any other pure Java library: Drop it into your IDE, and it just works. For this reason, jpathwatch can also be easily integrated into Java WebStart applications.
jpathwatch is open source under the GNU General Public License with Classpath Exception.
jpathwatch is maintained and developed by Uwe Pachler.
(WWB) is a Wicket component toolkit for displaying and editing JavaBeans. Web pages are automatically generated based on bean properties and conventions. If necessary, the layout, editability, and actions of these pages can be customized. At the highest-level, WWB's BeanForm component provides rich AJAX form functionality. The form is embedded in a Page designed by you. This allows you to create customized page designs and multiple BeanForms to be incorporated on a single page.Other lower-level components may be used independently of BeanForm (e.g., BeanGridPanel). BeanForm makes it very convenient to implement a bean-based form if you don't want to go to a lot of extra work. You focus on the model (beans), Fields within a form are dynamically sent back to the server-side bean as they are changed, which eliminates the typical form submit cycle. This makes WWB act more like a rich client application and less like a standard forms-based application.
AR for Java; ActiveObjects is an intuitive, pure-Java ORM. AO is designed from the ground up to be extremely simple and easy to use from an API standpoint. AO can be used with either an existing database schema, or it can auto-generate the database schema from the user-specified entity interfaces. ActiveObjects also supports Rails-style database migrations, allowing incremental changes and refactoring of the database schema without data loss.AO can perform better than data mapper ORMs due to its natural use of lazy-loading coupled with sophisticated caching mechanisms. However, performance is not the primary design goal of the project. Rather, the intention is to create an ORM which is powerful and yet extremely natural to use and integrate into your project. This design has lead to certain performance benefits (such as lazy-loading), but on the whole, data mapper ORMs are inherently slightly more performant than AO

The Lightweight Java Game Library (LWJGL) is a solution aimed directly at professional and amateur Java programmers alike to enable commercial quality games to be written in Java.
Activiti is a light-weight workflow and Business Process Management (BPM) Platform targeted at business people, developers and system admins. Its core is a super-fast and rock-solid BPMN 2 process engine for Java. It's open-source and distributed under the Apache license. Activiti runs in any Java application, on a server, on a cluster or in the cloud. It integrates perfectly with Spring, it is extremely lightweight and based on simple concepts.
The boilerpipe library provides algorithms to detect and remove the surplus "clutter" (boilerplate, templates) around the main textual content of a web page.
The library already provides specific strategies for common tasks (for example: news article extraction) and may also be easily extended for individual problem settings.
Extracting content is very fast (milliseconds), just needs the input document (no global or site-level information required) and is usually quite accurate.
Boilerpipe is a Java library written by Christian Kohlschütter. It is released under the Apache License 2.0.
