Welcome to my bibliography page. Here you can find my bibliographic information, that is, my personally managed bibliography. I am pretty interested in this area, because my current work in the ShaRef project aims at creating a tool for improving the ways in which researchers individually and collaboratively manage bibliographic information. The HTML pages used here have produced with ShaRef, so you might also be interested to give it a try...? My bibliographic information is available in the following forms:
* HTML page. Heavily cross-linked (intra-page links and with the title and an author indices) and connected with all forms of external online information (URIs, DOIs, OpenURLs). However, the OpenURLs may be of limited use to you, because they point to the library server of my local university...
* PDF printout. Generated by LaTeX from the BibTeX source.
* BibTeX source. This is the source for the above representations. It will be replaced with an XML-based format in the long term, but the XML format is still a bit unstable (but go ahead and give it a try if you feel adventurous).
* TeX2Unicode conversion tables. Here you'll find the character conversion tables we use to translate between BibTeX (i.e., LaTeX) characters and Unicode. You can get the conversion tables in various machine-readbale formats, so if you are looking for general LaTeX-to-Unicode character conversion, you might find this useful.

DESCRIPTION - SCOPE
The Web 2.0 has introduced new style of information sharing platforms favoring mass participation of users and resulting overall interestingness over the individual quality of information content and information organization. Dynamic knowledge emerges as the outcome of the interactions of masses of users in social networks (over 40 million in facebook). Thereby, the heterogeneity of data sources (e.g. multimedia, over 1 billion photos in flickr; over 1 million streams/day from YouTube), the scale of information (25% of network traffic is estimated to be YouTube related) and the huge amount of knowledge (100 millions of postings in flickr), pose many difficulties in discovering relevant information and in arriving at a larger picture of the available content.
"Swoogle is a search engine for the Semantic Web on the Web. Swoogle crawl the World Wide Web for a special class of web documents called Semantic Web documents, which are written in RDF."
Information is stuck inside HTML pages, formatted in esoteric ways, difficult for machines to process. "Web 3.0", precursor to a refined semantic web, will change this. ‘Web 3.0′ will transform web sites into web services. Unstructured information bec

From our point of view the Semantic Web stack currently is used as follows: (cf. Fig. 1):

Where (from bottom up):
* The two lowest layers, i.e. Unicode for a platform-neutral encoding and XML for the platform-neutral document representation are common to all (Semantic) Web applications
* Above the XML layer we have a rough distinction in the multimedia aspect and the Web Service aspect:
o On the Semantic Web/Multimedia tower we have both MPEG-7 and RDF/OWL for representing low and high-level features, possibly extended by rules
o On the Semantic Web/Services tower we have either the RDF/OWL/OWL-S-based branch or the WSML-based branch, both grounded on WSDL, again possibly using rules on the highest level.
