Abstract
The paper presents statistical determination
methods of conductor-tower clearances for an EHV
transmission line with suspension insulator _
strings of type "I", i.e. with an insulation having
a variable geometry. Considered have been
here two cases of influence exerted on the line
insulation namely the influence of the switching
overvoltages as well as of the operating voltage
combined in both cases with wind action.
The admissible yearly discharge number has
been accepted here as an initial point for both
cases. The presented methods make it possible to
calculate the design values of the wind velocity
necessary for the' calculation of the insulator
string deflection angle as well as of the minimum
air clearances between the deflected conductor
and the tower structure.
The paper contains some statistical data about
wind velocities and an adaption example of the
worked out methods to designing of a 750 kV transmission
line in Poland.
