Abstract
A survey to investigate the disturbance caused to secondary school
teachers by noise is described. Although the survey sample was selected
on the basis of road traffic noise exposure it has also been possible
to draw conclusions about the disturbance by aircraft noise. Quantitative
relationships have been established between the proportions of teachers
bothered by noise and the noise level to which they are exposed.
The results of this school survey are compared with dwelling noise
surveys.
