The limitations of this brief paper preclude any comprehensive coverage of the vast amount of material published in this field. “Culture” has become a pluralistic concept and the interpretations, definitions and applications of “culture” are multifarious. The development and use of this evolving subject are discussed under three headings: historical and sociological cultural perspectives; organisational and corporate culture perspectives; and construction industry culture perspectives.
