Design criteria based on these results and on the local conditions and constraints obtaining in Project-partner countries, together with some UHV-line ~esign solutions, are also described. As a specific application of the above-mentioned criteria, the paper presents the p~eliminary design of a 20 km pilot line, crossing a hilly area in Central Italy.
