This paper presents the method of calculation of the
potential excited by inductive effect of a transmission line,
along an infinitely long underground conductor, buried in
the vicinity of another ground return circuit, which fulfils
the role of a shield. The inductive as well as conductive
coupling existing between these two ground return circuits
are taken into account.
The reduction factor allowing for both kinds of interaction
between a protected conductor and a shield has also
been determined.
The technical application of the method presented is
ilustrated by examples.
The effect of variations in parameters of the system is
considered.
