@inproceedings{lueddecke2014, abstract = {Common search engines deliver quite good results when the user has a precise notion of what he is looking for. However, the user might have in mind additional prior information regarding the importance of speci cific terms. Consequently, it seems desirable to avoid the latter and incorporate the knowledge into the query instead. Therefore, we propose a search user interface concept that supports users in modelling their uncertainty in a comfortable way, foster exploratory search and provide a compact yet informative representation of results. An implemented prototype demonstrates the feasibility of the concept. We also present results of a first two-step usability study. The results indicate a good usability of the concept and show that even this novel concept meets user's expectations.}, added-at = {2014-03-06T14:58:40.000+0100}, address = {Berlin, Germany}, author = {Lüddecke, Timo and Jüttner, Markus and Nitsche, Marcus and Nürnberger, Andreas}, biburl = {https://www.bibsonomy.org/bibtex/20dceba21163502f6a880b340621b79d2/mnitsche}, chapter = {Position Papers}, editor = {Kruschwitz, Udo and Hopfgartner, Frank and Gurrin, Cathal}, interhash = {3b4b77e108283e34d6ffb0c58d552c2c}, intrahash = {0dceba21163502f6a880b340621b79d2}, keywords = {dke myown}, month = mar, publisher = {CEUR-WS.org}, series = {CEUR Workshop Proceedings}, timestamp = {2014-05-13T15:25:55.000+0200}, title = {An Exploratory Search User Interface Concept Supporting Vague Querying and a Novel Result Representation}, url = {http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1131/mindthegap14_8.pdf}, volume = 1131, year = 2014 }
