Abstract

Explores the change nature of public libraries and how we can ensure they meet the needs of future users, up to and beyond 2024. This study explores libraries of the future, drawing on innovation, emerging trends and examples. The shifting role and constituency of libraries is discussed, alongside the physical components and design of library buildings of the future. The study is funded by Re:source (the Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries), and is closely linked to the Building Futures study on school environments of the future.
