Abstract

In the recent years, sensors within the mobile devices are the center of attraction for people. This paper proposes a system for gesture recognition. System uses in-built accelerometer in the mobile phone to recognize the gesture. Simply by holding a phone like a pen a human draws gesture in the form of figure or characters. The acceleration due to real time hand gesture can be translated into strokes and identified. Gesture pattern is stored and mapped with the predefined gesture. Various applications on the computer have to be controlled by keyboard or mouse. But the proposed system provides a feature of handling the application on computer remotely. Future work is focused on refining the prototype with an aim of providing the users with new experience which complements the mouse and keyboards.
