Machine translation, translation memory and terminology management

This article considers how terminology is used in combination with machine translation and translation memory technologies. With both these technologies there is consensus that good terminology management will improve the quality of the target translation. The article will detail best practices for using terminology within these technologies. Through interviews and a survey I will also define how terminology is actually being used, what are the differences between this and acknowledged best practices and what is the justification for these differences. I will also present proposals for improving quality through better use of terminology with machine translation and translation memory technologies.
