Water Pathways in Wheat Leaves. II Water-conducting Capacities and Vessel Diameters of Different Vein Types, and the Behaviour of the Integrated Vein Network
(private-note)4
---=note-separator=---
(private-note)The MX in L veins decreases in diameter with proximity to the tip (therefore, together with a reduction in the amount of distal tissue and therefore evaporative demand, this results in reduced conduction), whereas the vessels in the i veins are the same diameter base to tip let leaves take up eosin, put them in an ultraviolet light box and measured how long it took for the dye to get 6cm up the leaf or leaf segment.
