Аннотация

In a study with 9 adult male Betta splendens, 3 fish preferred to perform an operant that permitted them to display freely to a mirror for 30 sec over an operant in which the initiation of display movements resulted in mirror termination. One S, which showed the opposite preference, received more time with its mirror image as a consequence. Results are consistent with a theoretical view that holds that a history of reinforcement provided by consummatory responding is sufficient for an instrumental activity to occur.
