Electrical and mechanical performances of polymer
insulators are deteriorating with age. It is desirable to
investigate the natural aging performance in the field
However, it takes so long and it is not easy to analyze the
natural aging characteristics. Various accelerated aging test
methods are proposed and evaluated in the world.
Evaluation results of typical artificial accelerated aging
tests specified in the international standards on representative
weathershed materials are introduced. Some considerations
into the improvement of accelerated aging test methods are
discussed.
