Abstract A physical term accounting for association was taken from the \SAFT\ theory 1 and was implemented in modern (semiempirical) multiparameter Helmholtz equations of state 2 in a way that it can directly be used in common mathematical frameworks in a relatively straightforward way. The implemented physical term contains three fluid specific parameters. In order to prove its capability to accurately describe a typical associating substance even at very low temperatures (down to the triple point) and high pressures (up to 500 MPa), methanol has been selected as target fluid.
