Abstract

Correlations in DNA has been widely studied in past years. However the nature and origin of them remains unclear. In the present work we explore a maximun entropy approach in order to obtain the short range distribution for n-tuples of bases and use extrapolate it to a feasible long range measure called number variance. Such a measure has been used in the random matrix approach for describe the statistical properties of nuclear data, quantum systems with chaotic classical dynamics and mesoscopic systems.
