Abstract

In this paper, we present our research results on the disaffection of sciences by learners in the particular case of Alpha Molo Baldé (LAMB) high schools in Kolda and Ibou Diallo (LID) high schools in Sédhiou. Our research results on the question of gender in the aforementioned high schools will also be presented in the particular case of the final class S1 where the dominant ones are Mathematics and Physical Sciences. We show singularly in this article that a clear literary trend of learners in LAMB and LID took shape between 1992 and 1999. In addition, we show through our study that if between 1994 and 1999 no girl was registered in TC (current TS1) both at LAMB and at LID, in 2022, there is 01 girl enrolled in TS1 in each of these high schools. In addition, we will discuss the issue of gender in TS1 at the Charles De Gaulle high school in Saint Louis, at the Maurice Delafosse mixed high school in Dakar, at the Bambey high school in the Diourbel region, at the Blaise Diagne high school in Dakar and at the Demba Diop high school in Mbour in the period 2019-2022. We will also present our research results on the impact of the desertion of sciences in higher education by integrating the question of gender in the particular case of the Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor between 2011 and 2022. We will then review the probable endogenous causes and exogenous causes of the disaffection of sciences by high school students at the national level. At the end of the study, we will propose ways out of this present school crisis.
