Rate coefficients for the reactions between the NO3 radical and pent-1-ene (k(1)), hex-1-ene (k(2)) and hept-1-ene (k(3)) have been determined at T = 296 +/- 1 K and P = 759 +/- 7 Torr by a relative-rate method using the reaction between the NO3 radical and but-1-ene (k(4)) as the reference reaction. The values of the rate constants measured were k(1) = (1.51 +/- 0.54) x 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), k(2) = (1.85 +/- 0.66) x 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), k(3) = (2.06 +/- 0.62) x 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) and the value of the reference rate constant was k(4) = (1.35 +/- 0 41) x 10(-14) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1).
