Creating an Innovative Palette of Services for Communities of Practice with Participatory Design
L. Esnault, A. Daele, and R. Zeiliger. Learning in the Synergy of Multiple Disciplines, Proceedings of the EC-TEL 2009, volume 5794 of Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Berlin/Heidelberg, Springer, (October 2009)
Abstract
The paper aims at presenting and analyzing the implementation of a Participatory Design Methodology within the large multidisciplinary European Project PALETTE. This methodology successfully enabled and supported the development and implementation of a "Palette" of interoperable services dedicated to Communities of Practice, in order to manage their knowledge asset, support collaboration, communication and decision making, and help to better animate the community life. The paper focuses on key aspects of the methodology implementation, the boundary construction processes based on scenarios and the role of mediators. It also present how the methodology was instrumented and documented. Finally, it presents some lessons learnt that could be of interests for other multidisciplinary project in the Technology Enhanced Learning community.
