Abstract
With the help of a mathematical model for representing a section
of transmission line, the author derives common quantities for
evaluating the degree of vibration of an overhead line. These
quantities describe the actual loading and can be compared to
permissible loadings, represented by means of a Wohler curve. In
this manner, the anticipated service life of a transmission line
subjected .to wind-induced vibrations can be successfully
estimated for known operational loadings.
