Abstract

Long-range interactions are known to induce unusual features in physical systems 1. An example is given by a non-neutral plasmas 2. Here, we present a kinetic study of the non-neutral plasma trapped in a confining potential. This system interacts through the unscreened $1r$ Coulombian potential. The use of a Vlasov solver 3 allows us to compute the evolution of the probability density function $f (x, p_x; t)$. The resolution is studied in phase space and the stability of quasi-stationary states is discussed. Refs: 1) T. Dauxois, S. Ruffo, E. Arimondo, and M. Wilkens.
