Zusammenfassung
Using a magnetic-field controlled Feshbach resonance, we create ultracold fermionic molecules starting from an ultracold Bose-Fermi atom gas mixture. The resulting mixture of atoms and weakly bound molecules provides a rich system for studying few-body collisions because of the variety of atomic collision partners for molecules; either bosonic, fermionic, or distinguishable atoms. We study the inelastic loss of the fermionic molecules as a function of the heteronuclear scattering length and find the quantum statistics of the particles involved in the collision has a dramatic effect on the loss rates near the Feshbach resonance. In particular, we find it is possible to realize a molecule lifetime as long as 100 ms near the Feshbach resonance.
