Abstract
Pattern formation in nematic liquid-crystal thin film induced by a focused laser beam was examined. We achieved multiple ring-like wall structure by a continuous traveling of beam spot around a disclination core. It is found that the intensity profile of the multiple ring-like wall is on an arithmetical manner. The constancy is well explained theoretically through the minimization of the Frank elastic energy with a suitable boundary condition.
