An evaluation of the service indicated that children attending the Satellite received more frequent treatment, at reduced costs to parents and social agencies. These children showed greater improvement in motor function than a control group, although no corresponding improvement in self-help skills was detected. Parents expressed a high level of satisfaction with the new service. The Satellite Clinic is recommended as a model for children unable to obtain regular treatment at an established centre.
