POWER ARCS OCCURRING ON H.V. INSULATORS IN NETWORKS AND IN LABORATORIES

Аннотация

The article points out the contradiction between damage statistics of high voltage transmission line insulator strings and the results of insulator arc resistance tests carried_ out in laboratories in the traditional way. In order to eliminate this contradiction the rules governing the movements of short-circuit arcs on high voltage insulators are investigated in a high power laboratory. On the basis of the results of these investigations the article suggests a new positioning of the fuse wire, a cu"ent range for test, a circuit set-up and other test circumstances yielding a better co"espondence with the actual stresses of insulator strings in networks.
