description = {The generation of large volumes of sequencing data requires effective project management, an integral part of which is efficient planning of resources. Our group is currently sequencing the 2.85 Mb genome of the methanogenic archaeon Methanosarcina mazei and the 1.82 Mb genome of the thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus using a whole genome shotgun approach. After evaluating different high-throughput plasmid purification systems, we chose QIAprep® Turbo technology in combination with the QIAGEN® BioRobotTM 96OO for purifying our plasmid clones. This combination has proven to be a highly productive solution for purifying large numbers of plasmids for sequencing in our laboratory.},
