Recent studies describe the external loads, as
well as the mechanical strength of components of
transmission lines statistically and establish
design approaches on this basis. These approaches
treat a transmission line as a system which necessitates
the coordination of the strengths of
its components. To utilize these new approaches,
statistical characteristics of foundations are
also needed. This report deals with the statistical
evaluation of more than 1000 uplift loading
tests and provides the necessary statistical
data for pile-type foundations. Proposals for the
coordination of strength of towers and foundations
are made and exemplified based on the results
of the loading tests.
