Zusammenfassung
The vibrational properties of the nucleoside deoxyadenosine monohydrate
were investigated with Raman spectroscopy in the crystal form of the
material. A tentative assignment of the vibrational modes was made
through the knowledge of vibrations in similar materials. The behavior
of the crystal under high pressure was investigated up to 5.6 GPa. The
results suggest a phase transition undergone by the crystal between 0.6
at 0.8 GPa as indicated by discontinuities on the wavenumber of some
modes and changes in the Raman spectra. The phase transition involved a
hydrogen bond between the sugar and the water molecule as it is observed
through the changes of a COH bending vibration. Above the pressure of
the phase transition, it is observed that the vibrational modes continue
to change continuously up to the highest pressure reached in the
experiment. Finally, the phase transition appears as completely
reversible.
