Abstract

In this paper, an iterative solution for high density random valued impulse noise reduction of gray scale images is proposed. The algorithm, which works in an iterative fashion, is designed by considering the different parameters that influence the effect of noise reduction. Each iteration significantly increases the performance of the proposed algorithm. Restored Mean Absolute Error (RMAE) is used to measure and compare the performance of the algorithm. The algorithm is compared with several non-linear algorithms reported in the literature. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm produces better results compared to the existing algorithms.
