Abstract
Ceramic phase-to-phase spacers have been
e1plo¥ed to prevent galloping on 275kV overhead
trans•ission lines since 1989 In Hokkaido Electric
Power Co., Inc.
After these phase-to-phase spacers were
attached, phase-short circuit due to galloping
have not taken place.
But the weight of this spacer is heavf because
the cera1ic long rod is used as a insulator. This
heaviness it 1akes proble1s that the height of
conductor from ground can not be gained to
safet¥ level In case of thin conductors,
reinforcement of Tower angle parts increases and
so on.
To cope with those, we developed phase-to-Phase spacer with nonceramic insulator Instead of
of ceramic one so that we can reduce the weight of
phase-to-phase spacer.
Through tests on its funda1ental performance
which are aechanical and electrical strength,
It was proved th>l.t nonceramlc phase-to-phase spacer
reached a practical level.
The developed spacers were attached on 275kV
transmission lines with double conductors, only I
span, in 1992. And the observation has been
done to size up the efects of those spacers.
This report 1ainl¥ describes the results of
electric perforaance test Including condition of
Icing.
