Abstract
The sitting posture of a spastic cerebral-palsied child in a standard chair and on a straddling apparatus is discussed in this paper. It is suggested from the literature that a sitting apparatus which encourages hip abduction positioning provides the stability a child needs to engage in bilateral hand skills. In examining the sitting posture of a cerebral-palsied child, it is recommended that straddling apparatus be used.
