Abstract
Galloping in overhead lines is the largest and
most intractable problem still confronting power
transmission engineers. Numerous researchers have
undertaken detailed analyses on the basis of observations
made under adverse conditions and fundamental
wind-tunnel experiments, and have
developed a variety of countermeasures. None.however.
has been entirely effective.
It is considered that the anti-galloping
measures proposed here, using phase spacers made
of a non-ceramic insulating material. represent
the most effective means yet devised for dealing
with galloping.
