Abstract
A model for the probability density distribution of 5 min global
irradiance is presented. This distribution is not a unique function
of the hourly average, but depends heavily also on the irradiance
variability within the hour. This variability is inferred from the
variability among three hourly averages, viz. the hour in question,
the preceding and the deceding hour.
