Abstract
It is well known that dampers of the Stockbridge
type or of other constructions should be carefully
tuned or matched with the cable and in accordance
to the operating conditions in order to
work efficiently. In this paper the optimal complex
impedance calculated in a previous paper is
examined and compared with the impedances usually
measured in actual dampers. It is shown how the
optimization of the damper with respect to energy
absorption affects the damper design.
