Abstract
$$R$$ is a powerful system for statistical computing. Its great flexibility makes it the perfect tool for a wide range of applications. Unfortunately this flexibility also leads to a level of complexity which is hard to handle for the casual user. On the other hand tools like Microsoft Excel are very easy to handle but are not well-suited for more complex applications. This article describes how to make use of the flexibility of $$R$$ while still providing a familiar and easy to use GUI in Microsoft Excel. We will provide a description of the design and show the various ways of installation and user interaction with $$R$$ using Excel.
