Per-partum anoxia and handicaps: epidemiological aspects

Abstract

Although per-partum anoxia accounts for only a small part (less than 10\%) of the etiology of cerebral palsy, statistical computations, based on current epidemiological data, show that, when per-partum anoxia is associated with suboptimal care 9 out of 10 cases of cerebral palsy could be attributed to the anoxia.
