Being the 'mother of sciences', Philosophy addressed the notion of knowledge, the generation of knowledge, its transfer, with its prospects and limitations for quite a while. Knowledge Management, on the other hand, is gaining increasing importance in all business activities. However, the multidisciplinarity of the approaches and the complexity of the notion of 'knowledge' raise many issues that are often simply ignored or treated offhandedly. What, then, seems better than turning to and examining the potential of contributions of Philosophy to Knowledge Management and search for mutual promotion and synergy? This article tries to show two directions where Philosophy may provide help: model construction and lateral thinking.
